David J. Dallin (1889-1962) was a writer and lecturer on Soviet affairs. Born in Russia, he fled to Germany after being imprisoned for anti-tsarist activity. He returned to Russia following the February Revolution of 1917 but left the country again in 1922. Expelled from Germany and then Poland, he finally went to the United States at the outbreak of World War II.
